Fuel leaks/oil leaks/cooling issues: WHY TO FIX THEM.
![]() 08/22/2014 at 09:24 |

exactly. Fuel leak can make you have a bad day real quick. Same with oil

To take it off topic real quick, but sort of on topic: there is a known defect on the VW Vanagons with the fuel lines or the fuel neck that goes through the firewall deteriorating. The mantra whenever someone buys a new Vanagon on the forums is CHANGE YOUR FUEL LINES. One day someone took it to the extreme and shared police pics of 2 dead and burned to a crisp kids in the back of a burned out Westy to a forum. I will never let a fuel leak go ever again in my life.

wow had to make it all dark and serious didn't you?
I'm jk obviously fuel leaks are nothing to mess with.
I remember I took at trip back home during college in my first s10 Blazer (The hopped up '88) and I got home and said to my dad (the master mechanic). Well I'm here but man my MPG was HORRIFIC on the way home, I swear I was getting gas every hour or so (it was a 12 hour trip from MI to NJ). We brought it to the shop the next morning...and I spent the day hand bending new fuel lines, the old ones had rusted away. I got very, very lucky all I had to deal with was spending a lot on gas on the way back home.

Write this on a flag and fly it from the core support.

It was a '70 and not a '67-'69? #GraspingAtStraws

Probably a transmission cooler line. Flammable as fuck, easy to overlook. Often connected with cheap rubber fuel hose.
This sucks!

Eh indeed. V8 + RWD means smokey burnouts and being able to put the power down when you want to.
![]() 08/22/2014 at 09:40 |

That's why you point the Toronado *before* you do your burnout launch. Any subsequent corners are for heathens, just like actually making a good time.

ha yeah I didn't mean to go there. Yeah I had a fuel filter burst on a volvo last year. Lots o gas taken. the gauge was moving visibly. Damn been there

Thankfully neither of us have been where Mr Toronado was.

I realize the tech was new (cord included) so it was a neat feat of engineering at the time. But V8's shouldn't be wasted in fwd chassis'.

There was a Toronado drag car that somebody built - Hurst possibly - that was all wheel drive. Now that was a special thing.

V8 and AWD? Fantastic.
V8 and FWD …
Sorry not sorry, I'm a hater.

My MG's carbs have overflow tubes (in case the floats stick etc). The front one will direct the fuel in the general direction of the exhaust manifold. Wut?
![]() 08/22/2014 at 11:21 |
|
Any overflows or leaks in the Rover go straight to the exhaust, because reverse-flow head, hurr.

Exactly...because cross flow is for wimps. Or something.
